IBM Cloud is a full-stack cloud platform with over 170 products and services covering data, containers, AI, IoT, and blockchain.
I worked on the IBM Cloud Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) Infrastructure product team for three years. VPC is a highly resilient and secure software-defined network (SDN) on which you can build isolated private clouds for your business operations while maintaining essential public cloud benefits.
My role
Infrastructure networking
While on VPC Infrastructure, I worked as a Visual and UX designer and took ownership of several networking service experiences, like Load balancer, CDN, VPN, Firewalls, and Subnets. I collaborated with cross-functional teams to ship these designs, including product managers, architects, and developers. My team and I received a patent for designing and developing a new visualization of selecting CIDR blocks and received an Australian Good Design Award for our designs.

Alignment and consistency
Primarily being a visual designer, I made an effort to create visual alignment across VPC Infrastructure designs and keep up with the latest design updates and guidelines coming through from IBM Cloud’s design system, the Carbon Design System, to ensure our designs aligned with IBM standards. I created a suite of UI icons used for each service within IBM Cloud and created a system of network diagramming to achieve consistency at a larger scale.
IBM went through a design language transformation in 2019. While working on IBM Cloud, I was a sponsor user for IBM Brand and the Carbon Design System. I created experimental UI flows of what Infrastructure services would visually look like using the new design language principles and guidelines to help instill vetted and best practice layouts across the company.

IBM Virtual Private Cloud Infrastructure won in the 2019 Good Design Australia Awards in the Digital Design category. Read the Medium article below.
U.S. Patent (Automatic IP range selection)
I worked with a team of designers and developers on IBM Cloud to design and develop a more innovative way for users to easily configure a subnet within an IP range to select a space within its location and size. We were granted a patent, the Automatic IP range selection, with the U.S. government in May 2021.
